Thank you again for supporting LH, as we support this awesome group of talented folks!
Let’s take a trip back in time to see the awesome fun we had in December:
12/7/13: We decided on a Woodland road trip for early December to party with Four Barrel at Kenny’s. The decision was made in part to support them as they were actually “Three Barrel” that night. Lead vocalist Kally Pile was off visiting family out of state, so we saw a good opportunity to see how the boys roll! And roll they did! Some special songs were dusted off for the occasion, and the Kenny’s crowd was eccentric and fun as usual! Check out Basket Case under Recent Hangouts for proof!
12/13/13: Our third trip to the Opera House Saloon in Roseville and we’re hooked! This time with the always fun Unlicensed Therapy band! This is such a cool venue to hang out at! The huge stage and dance floor and full schedule of weekday and weekend events are making this a favorite of Lynns Hangouts! Friday the 13th couldn’t pass without something amiss, and that something turned out to be the sound the Saloon provided. Once Unlicensed Therapy hooked up their own sound, things got rolling! The place was packed and ready to party, so the band opted to skip a break and played non-stop until everyone was spent! And after a short rest, some of the fans got out on the dance floor to do the Cupid Shuffle (including our own Teri Alison) which can be seen under Fan Files! I’m sure we will see Unlicensed Therapy here again, so hunker down for another fun night!
12/14/13: True Line Entertainment was having their annual Christmas party at Strikes Halftime Bar & Grill in Rocklin this fine December eve! Mike Barnes, True Line’s CEO, and myself decided to make this the 1-year anniversary party for LH, as well! That’s right – Lynns Hangouts has been in business for a year! How time flies when having fun! Mike really knows how to throw a party – seven bands; some of which include Tres Hombres, Playback, The Wildflowers, Skid Roses and Riff Raff! The place was packed even up to the end, which was around 1:15 AM! I took a lot of great video for your enjoyment, and chatted with some band members that I haven’t seen for months! It was an exhausting night, but is now classified as most excellent!
12/20/13: Lead vocalist Kally Pile was done vacationing and back with Four Barrel, so off to Jan’s Lounge in Orangevale we went to see her! One can only have a great time at Jan’s Lounge and tonight followed that rule! There was a large crowd, which included some local musicians such as Teri Alison (Unlicensed Therapy), Thomas Bridgham (Sock Monkey), and the ever-so-talented John Bush with his Harmonica! Look for a ‘Random Riff From The Attic’ posting on 1/8/14 of John and his Harmonica! Another great night for the memory books!
12/28/13: Playback has quickly turned into a favorite contender and they were playing at Strikes Halftime Bar & Grill in Rocklin, so arrangements were made to party down! The lead of the band, Jerry Brehm, asked me to take videos of certain songs for their website, and on break I got a great interview with him. The fans were awesome in their support of Playback, and there was a sweet couple celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary! They and their family did an amazing amount of dancing for their age. More videos of this fun night will be posting on LH in January – you won’t want to miss them!
12/29/13: I love offering support to Rockin’ Down The Hiway as they don’t come our way often enough, and when I heard they were at the Powerhouse Pub in Folsom early evening, the excitement boiled! What we didn’t know was the whole day and evening was dedicated to the Blues! Pinkie Rideau, a locally famous blues vocalist, was throwing herself a retirement party! What was even more exciting was Pinkie sponsored a benefit for Locks of Love! All proceeds went to the wonderful organization that helps provide human hair for children who are going through or have gone through Chemotherapy. Pinkie even donated her hair to Locks of Love – right there on the dance floor! Two other women and one man did the same! What an awesome day! I got some great Random Riff videos of Blues musicians soon to air on LH, as well as the Recent Hangouts video of Rockin’ Down the Hiway! Check it all out!
12/31/13: While I was not working LH this last evening of the year, I wanted to mention the ton of live music opportunities available. If I were to take a guess, I would say about 40% of the LH bands gigged this night. Personally, I went to Laugh’s Unlimited for a couple of comedy shows and Four Barrel band. We all got to go out and watch the fireworks at midnight, then back inside to rock out until almost 2 AM! No camera, no pictures; but it was an extremely fun and memorable night! I trust you had as much fun in whatever you did and wherever you went, and my hope is it included live music!
That wraps up another month and year! Happy New Year, come join us in January for more rockin’ fun!
Till then, ROCK ON! \m/
