January website stats continue to impress. As of the end of January, we had a cumulative total of over 48,200 unique visitors to the website; over 324,000 page views; and a cumulative total of over 86,600 video views on You Tube! New visitor sessions dropped to 44%, but remains a solid amount of new visitors to LH. Keep visiting LH often for more fun, and be part of these awesome stats!
We are so grateful and want to thank every one of you for making a donation to LH! Your contribution gives us encouragement and makes it possible to keep up the fast pace checking out the local live music scene here in the Sacramento area. Thank you so much for supporting LH as we support this awesome group of talented folks! You are in our thoughts every day!
You are always welcome to come party with the LH team! Just check for the “Join LH” on the Home page gig schedule next to the events we will be hanging out at! We’d love to see you out supporting live music, and the group we hang out with is growing with such fun folks!
If you go to a gig you saw on LH, please don’t be shy about telling the band! I’m sure they would love to meet you as well as learn how you heard of their gig!
January was a busy month of rock, thankfully since it is long, cold and usually wet! Here’s what happened:
1/8/16: We started the month on the right foot with The Mach 5’s debut at the Opera House Saloon in Roseville! A ton of LH fans showed up for the pre-planned first dance Flash Mob! All went as planned – the owner, Rebecca, introduced the festivities and the band struck the first note. Everyone rushed the floor to show off their best moves while the LH camera caught all the fun! The band was on fire the whole night cranking out some amazing tunes! I taped three great Drum Off videos – Steve Marshall, Brian Machado and John Linn! I also got a great Random Riff video while on stage roaming around. Opera House was as packed as we have ever seen it. Everyone was having such a blast, no one wanted to see the night end, with so many folks staying until the last song. Success was felt in quantity tonight – the band’s debut, the Flash Mob and the amount of rock fans. Look for more Flash Mob type fun in the future!
1/9/16: We were off to Referee’s Sports Bar & Grill in Citrus Heights to support Jet Screamer. I went a little early to chat with the band and ended up getting an interview with lead guitarist Steve LaFontaine! The plan was to chat on break, but this worked out better so Steve wasn’t rushed to get back to work. Lots of friends and fans came out to party down with the Screamer including a ton of musicians! Lead vocalist Angelo Dapello brought as many up on stage as he could, including Chris Duran for Shook Me, Tracy Butler for Hard To Handle, and Kevin Drummer for Good Times Bad Times. The band was rockin’ the house and the fans were diggin’ the action! Another group photo was taken for the new LH website platform – great memories captured in time! What an amazing weekend of fun, friends and music! Life is good!
1/15/16: Tonight brings us to Halftime Bar & Grill in Rocklin with our Poparazzi band! We have only seen them one other time, when we asked them to join LH, so this is a treat to party together again! Poparazzi is a talented band with seasoned musicians, and the polish shows! The crowd of fans gave the band a vigorous applause after each song! Lots of musicians came to support, including Miro and Jimmy of Rebel Yell, and Curt of Two20! I hung around after the gig was over and talked with Doc Dibble about the possibility of Poparazzi playing at Rockfest 2016. Doc was very interested, and confirmed with the rest of the band a couple of days later, giving me a big YES!!!
1/16/16: Pop Fiction was back in town at Halftime Bar & Grill in Strikes, Rocklin, and we expected quite a party. Little did we know how incredible the night would be! The football game ran late, so Halftime was already packed with football fans. There were three birthday parties and a Meetup group of 50 folks celebrating with Pop Fiction. The combination of football fans who stayed after the game and the celebratory fans made for a perfect storm of wall-to-wall people! We grabbed a spot on the dance floor and held on to it the whole night! It was a magical fun night and the band was spot-on and professional, as always. Pop Fiction is one of the most popular local cover bands who definitely enjoy a successful live music career! It’s an honor to support them!
1/22/16: After doing the interview with Mark Coudriet about his new country band, Moonshine Crazy, Mark invited me to shoot a promo video at the Ophir Crab Feed in Loomis, which happened to take place tonight! I loaded up the extra battery and memory card, and off I went! The crab feed was about done when I arrived, but it gave me a chance to sit with the band and chat. It was my first time meeting three of the members and I found them to be super great people! After the auction, the band set the pace for fun, and cranked out the cool country tunes that brought the fans to their feet! I videotaped until the battery was gone, which put me right up to the end of their gig. After some quick goodbyes, it was off to the Opera House Saloon for Part 2 of the evening!
1/22/16: It started to rain hard when I arrived at the Opera House Saloon parking lot around midnight. I knew the saloon must be packed when I could only find three parking spots in the large lot. My umbrella and a pep in my step brought me quickly inside. Some close friends were enjoying a drink downstairs, so I hung out with them for a few minutes. Then it was time to head upstairs where I found it unbelievably packed for so late at night! So many wonderful live music fans still enjoying everything Skid Roses threw at them! Lots of greetings and hugs, a couple of videos and a super great group photo later, the gig was over! Best night EVER!!
1/23/16: Unlicensed Therapy was playing at Referee’s Sports Bar & Grill in Citrus Heights and we were excited to see them again! The band was coordinated in red and black and they all looked great! So many fun friends showed up to support, pretty much packing Referee’s! It was so great to see this! Good friend Miles French told me Jan’s Lounge was the same way with Jet Screamer on stage. It warms my heart to know the venues are filling up with live music lovers! This tells me we are doing our jobs! Unlicensed Therapy kept the fans entertained and happy from the first song to the last. And it happened again – the crowd called for an encore, to which owner Ken Fiola gave a thumbs up, allowing the band to satisfy the request! We drove away with a warm heart!
1/29/16: We know there’s tons fun to be had when Disco Revolution plays at the Opera House Saloon in Roseville; and judging by the crowd, tonight lived up to that statement! The band always stays in disco characteristics while on stage, adding to the degree of stellar entertainment the fans receive! In fact, this particular night it seemed the band was feeding off the positive energy from the crowd, as we saw them do some pretty fun moves seldom seen at a live music gig! The atmosphere created by the band truly has a party-like feel to it – almost like having disco songs playing in the background while having a bunch of close friends to your house! The evening flew by, as expected, and within moments it was over. You can’t beat that satisfied feel in your soul from an evening like this!
1/30/16: Tonight was a special night, as it started with close friends at a private party. All I can say about this party is special memories were made – great food, great bartending, super fun music on the “jukebox” with a cool dance floor to bust out our moves! Excellent start to the evening!
At 9:30 we headed over to The Corner Pocket Sports Bar in Citrus Heights to make good on a promise to the owner that we would come support a Fresno based band, Pirate Radio. Lots of LH friends and fans heard the call-to-action and joined the party! The band cranked out all the favorite 80’s rock tunes, keeping the dance floor packed. Lead vocalist, D. K. Revelle, spent numerous songs on the floor with the fans encouraging them to sing along. He is one cool dude! We had a blast checking out this new band, but we had been dancing since 6 PM, so folks saw us leave a bit earlier than normal. Great night – super addition to the memory book!
We are already looking ahead to February’s ‘Calendar of Rock’ and see that it is full of some great band/venue combinations! Make plans to follow LH into to a month of fun and frolic as we dance the weekends away!
And don’t forget: Our 2nd Annual LH RockFest 2016 happens May 7th at Halftime Bar & Grill in Strikes, Rocklin! We want to see everyone there, so save the date and plan on attending at least part of this 12-hour event!
See you in February!
Till then, ROCK ON! \m/
