Band News:

LH Rockfest 2015 was a HUGE success!!  We can’t say a BIG enough thank you to all the folks who helped make it so!  So many amazing people showed up to support the awesome bands – some even stayed all 12 hours!!  And the band members – what can I say about this amazingly talented group of musicians!  Thank you all for playing at our event, being so awesome, and knocking it out of the park with your songs!  I am so proud of you all!  And to my dedicated helpers – thank you so very much for all you did to make things run so smooth!  Couldn’t have done this without you!  And a BIG thank you to Jim Barkhurst with Sound Basis for an amazing day of sound for the event!  We were very impressed with what Jim did!!  And special thanks to Angelo Giovanni Dapello, who is the brain-child of Rockfest, not to mention HUGE supporter and fan of LH!  Angelo directed and coordinated everything that had to do with Rockfest!  A truly amazing effort on his part!  Altogether, I think we rocked the live music scene here in the greater Sacramento area off its foundation!  Thank you ALL for being a strategic part of this!  I am already looking forward to next year!  MUCH LOVE TO YOU ALL!!!!

Set In Stone’s last show was at Thunder Valley’s Main Stage on 6/13/15.  But, oh, what a show!  Those that went, know what we mean!  This puts us back down to 57 bands.

Phillip Lovejoy (Four Barrel) has also joined Playback The Hits as their lead guitarist, taking Jerry Brehm’s place, who moved to New York!  Their first gig together was 6/13/15 at Halftime Bar & Grill in Strikes!  We welcome Phil as he joins this awesome group of talent!

Great news for our Apple Z band!  Recently, they were fortunate enough to catch the eye of a few national talent agencies!  We think this is going to give the band the boost and break they so richly deserve!  We are certain they will go far!  Congratulations, team!!  Job well done!

Meeting Minutes:

I am happy to report June’s website stats are trending nicely!  As of the end of June we had a cumulative total of over 37,700 unique visitors to the website, over 283,400 page views, and a cumulative total of over 68,000 video views on You Tube! (Subtracting out Apple Z videos, which are now set to Private.)  Another interesting stat – this month 46% of the sessions on LH were new visitors!  Keep visiting LH often for more fun, and be part of these awesome stats!

If you want to come party with us, check for the “Join LH” on the Home page gig schedule next to the events we will be hanging out at!  We’d love to see you out supporting live music and we will grab a dance with you!

If you go to a gig you saw on LH, please don’t be shy about telling the band!  I’m sure they would love to meet you as well as learn how you heard of their gig!

We are so grateful and thankful for every one of you who has made a donation to LH!  And special thanks to all of those that donated to “The Drum” at LH Rockfest!  Your contributions gives us encouragement and makes it possible to keep up the fast pace checking out the local live music scene here in the Sacramento area.  Thank you so much for supporting LH as we support this awesome group of talented folks!

June was a great rock month!  Here’s a taste of what we saw:

6/6/15:  A dear friend of mine had secured tickets for the Peter Frampton concert at Thunder Valley in Lincoln.  We had a blast!  Most fans were in awe of the smooth jams produced by the band!  Afterwards, we headed to the Main Stage inside to check out Frank Hannon!  It was so crowded, we stayed for about 5 songs, then left. We saw so many live music fans we knew at both concerts!  It was like a big family party!  Too fun!!

6/9/15:  Since we missed rockin’ the first weekend of June (Friday night bad weather, Saturday Peter Frampton concert) we noticed some pent up energy that needed to be released and decided Downtown Tuesday Nights in Roseville would be just the spot to do so!  We called out the LH dance troop, who showed up in force to see Rocky & The Revellettes!  This band plays 50’s, 60’s and 70’s tunes, complete with costume changes!  During one song, the gals threw Tootsie Rolls to the audience, of which our own Don Preston had a great time throwing at Matt Lipford, Jet Screamer’s percussionist!  And our own Jeff Lewis, who is also in Category 4, brought a rock sound to their tunes with his guitar!  Mike Barnes (Riff Raff, Foo Fighters Unauthorized); Mark Ellenburg (Category 4); and Jeff Hayes were running sound and lights.  The weather was a bit threatening, but it didn’t stop us from having a great time up to the end!

6/12/15:  The evening was hot and it only seemed logical to hangout by the river at Swabbies On The River!  And bonus – our favorite Boston tribute band, Long Time, was playing!  First part of the evening was hot, but the cool breeze coming off the river soon swirled up and brushed against us making the music that much sweeter!  Long Time did an excellent job showing off their skills and energy for the love of Boston music, which in turn brought the fans to the dance area in force!  During a break, I caught up with Tim Boore, guitarist and vocalist for the band, to chat about his musical past.  When you hear the interview, you will understand just how this talented group of individuals formed as a team and how it was meant to be!  Destiny strikes again!  We stayed till the end soaking up every note of fun the team offered!  This one is marked in the memory book!

6/13/15:  One last trip to Halftime Bar & Grill in Strikes, Rocklin before LH Rockfest!  The party was with Playback The Hits – always a fun band!  As you know, Phillip Lovejoy has joined the band, and this was our first time seeing this new team!  We have to say, Phil definitely brought a new element to the evening; including new pedals, audience participation with his guitar, the usual playing-behind-the-head, and Phil even played with his teeth!  Even though the crowd was sparse (Thunder Valley concert conflict) they were enjoying what Playback produced!  Lots of fist bumps and high fives from the dancers to the band!  We are counting this night as a true success, proving once again that a gig doesn’t have to be about the number of fans, but more so about the bonding moments bands have with their fans!

6/26/15:  The Opera House Saloon in Roseville always puts on a fabulous party, and tonight turned out to be a hot one!  Not only was the temperature over 100 degrees today, but the band of choice for the evening, Superlicious, was spot on and hot as ever!  Many LH peeps showed expecting a great time, and honestly, we had a super-great time!  The dance floor was packed with super-fun folks, the band brought the Superlicious Dancers up on stage for ‘Poor Some Sugar On Me,’ which made for a super Fan File to post on 8-5-15!  Right after the first break, I went up on stage to give the band their LH Rockfest 2015 Grammy Award for Best Band!  It was so fun and they seemed to really dig the award.  When we left, we knew we had been served with one of the best nights ever!  BAM!

6/27/15:  Who’s up for double rock tonight?  First up – Carmichael Park in Carmichael with the Ma Barker Band!  It’s been a long time since we first saw them, but remembered them as energetic and fun!  They lived up to that memory with their rockin’ 60’s, 70’s and 80’s songs and audience engagement!  And who wouldn’t love the British accent and sense of humor of lead vocalist Mo Debbage!  They drew a large crowd in the grassy knoll and many fans to the dance area!  Great way to start the evening.

Next we headed to The Blarney Stone in Orangevale to party with Radio Heavy.  This was the first time we have seen them with the new team!  We found the addition of lead guitarist Gary Tarplee and percussionist Byran Fields to be excellent choices!  And Veronica’s voice is always top quality!  I captured an excellent Random Riff of Gary shredding as only he can do to air on 8/26/15 – you won’t want to miss it!  Excellent night, all the way around!
