PUSH is on hiatus. No firm date yet on their start up.
We added a new sponsor – Use Dave’s Voice! Dave is a huge live music fan and can be seen supporting bands around town, but mostly at Jan’s Lounge in Orangevale! Next time you see Dave, give him a shout-out for his support and his cool voice business!

Thank you for supporting LH as we support this awesome group of talented folks!
Let’s take a trip back in November to see how live music rocked our beautiful city:
11/1/14: We started the month of November with double rock – why not, right! First stop Jan’s Lounge in Orangevale to check out a band we have not seen yet, Rockslide! We walked in and met the band, who were busy setting up, as well as a couple of their best fans – their wives! What a great group of folks! We enjoyed rockin’ with the band and noticed they did some refreshing songs not often heard. For example, I got a great Random Riff of Rocky Mountain Way. I also got a super funny Tickles video when lead vocalist Tony Tuoto’s mic stand decided to collapse in the middle of a line. Tony, being the good sport he is, didn’t miss a lick and simple bent over and continued to finish the line, since his hands were full of percussion instruments. Great time with Rockslide!
Off to Referee’s in Citrus Heights to finish up the night with The Mach 5. We have not seen them in a while and owed them a visit! The band seemed glad to see us when we walked in and we immediately brought folks to the floor for some Mach 5 fun! Some good friends showed up after we did and also stayed on the floor to support this awesome band! I got a great interview with the owner of Referee’s, Ken Fiola, which posted on 11/19/14. Ken explains the history of Referee’s and what their plans are for the future! Thanks, Ken, for a very informative and fun interview! We stayed to the last song having a blast interacting with the band! One song that comes to mind that had the group on the floor bouncing around was Pump It Up. Everyone loved the energy this song produced and we all got a great workout – I simply must tape it next time I see my Mach 5 friends!
11/7/14: We darned our best rock jeans and set out to Jan’s Lounge in Orangevale to party one last time this year with Jet Screamer! They are taking time off during the holidays for family, so one last blowout was a must with all the hard rock favorites! Lead guitarist Steve LaFontaine continues to impress everyone with his guitar licks and riffs – of which a quick one I was able to record for a future Random Riff video! Jan’s Lounge was decorated with fall colors and lights, which helped to make the evening perfect!
11/8/14: It’s Jan’s Lounge weekend! We are back in Orangevale, this time to party with Legal Addiction! The band has become very tight with their song selections, which were great – it was like listening to the radio without commercials! We love the addition of the Flute and Saxophone, played by Nina Shaull! She adds so much fullness and flavor to the classic hits, it was hard to keep the fans down! Lead guitarist Dave Gateley sang a beautiful song to his mom, You Are My Hero. Dave told me there was a lot of history in the song between them. She cried. Others teared up. It was a very special moment. One of Jan’s bartender, Chad Christensen, was seen cutting a rug on the dance floor to numerous songs! Chad is so fun to party with – he has a great time whether it’s working behind the bar, rockin’ out behind the bar, or rockin’ out on the dance floor on break! I spoke to Nina on the way out and confirmed capturing an interview with her next time we partied together! Now to write up some special questions! We had a great time during this successful evening!
11/14/14: We were off to Sammy’s Island Bar & Grill in Roseville for the first time since they reopened, to party with A-Train! This is one of the few LH bands that have managed to secure a gig at Sammy’s. There were four birthday party celebrations, one for my good friend, Keri! We had so much fun out on the floor dancing to the awesome and talented A-Train! A fan jumped on stage for part of a song and had a blast dancing in front of the crowd! We even ran into one of the previous drummers of the Steve Miller Band, Phil McCord! Of course I had to grab a few dances with him. He complimented the band on their sound and said he had a great time! Super fun night for the memory books!
11/15/14: Considering it’s so late in the year, this might well be the last time we see The Mach 5 at Strikes Halftime Bar & Grill in Rocklin in 2014, so it was a must go! We had a blast, as we always do with the team! The dance floor was packed from start to finish, which fed a ton of energy to the band! Bassist David Garrity was absent due to a hurt finger, so Tbone Hooker filled in for him. Tbone used to play in the band years ago. It was nice to chat with Tbone on a break and get to know him a bit. He brought some great talent and energy to the team and the evening. And newsflash – he will be a steady component come next year! Dave Garrity has decided to throw in the towel and retire. My guess is for a bit, as I’ve never really seen a local musician retire. Music is just in their blood! Nevertheless, we wish Dave the best and hope to see him out and about town on the fan side of the stage for a change! We stayed to the end soaking up every fun note!
11/21/14: We were off to The Troc in Roseville to see Legal Addiction tonight for some early rock! The Trocadero starts their live music on Friday nights at 6 PM! We love this because it allows us to do double rock! When we walked in, the band was getting some very cool photos taken. They are such characters, the poses were great spoofs on seriousness. And as expected, there were lots of laughs after the posing stopped! A quick chat with the team and it was on to the music! Some LH friends who had never seen the band came for the fun and were delighted by what they heard! I got an exclusive interview with Nina Shaull, who plays the flute and sax, along with some backup vocals! I also got a sweet Drum Off video of Randy Riche knockin’ the kit around during Wipeout! Randy used his glow drum sticks for the event, and all you could see was fast moving glow! Awesome time!
We left The Troc a bit before the band was done and headed to Strikes Halftime Bar & Grill in Rocklin to party with Left Of Centre, who were back in town! Always gotta go see my boys! Well, some changes have taken place since last time we saw them! Percussionist Daren McCabe has left the band and moved to Nashville! His replacement is Jesse Easter, who impressed us with his skills that pay the bills! They also added a Steel Guitar player, Aaron Shively! They sounded great with the two new players, and we had a ball dancing to, and soaking up, their great songs! And from the sound of things, they are going to make the Halftime gig a more regular occurrence! Happy, happy!
11/23/14: Find your Sunday best pair of rockin’ blue jeans and come on down to see Four Barrel at Laugh’s Unlimited! Yes, once again the 4th Sunday of November landed us at Laugh’s! We didn’t expect much of a crowd due to a popular afternoon football game, but we were wrong! The place was comfortably full of great dancers and live music fans! The big news coming from Four Barrel is bassist Timmy Peregoy decided to retire and spend quality time with his three gorgeous children. Very sad for me, as I am a personal friend of Timmy’s and I will miss him in this fine band. But being a supportive friend, I can say I am happy Tim will not miss out on precious memories while raising his brood. John Butterfield was auditioning for the part and seemed to do a great job! The band was pleased, and a few days later, we got word John got the job! Congratulations, John! You landed in a great spot! Another quality day of fun!
11/26/14: ‘Twas the night before Thanksgiving and all thru the Corner (Pocket in Citrus Heights) not a music fan was silent, not with Riff Raff in the house! Such an excellent adventure – lots of turkey-prep dodgers came out to do a little dance, make some new friends, and get down tonight! Ok, I’ll stop. The band was hot, the music great – we even got a special treat when John Linn (Celebration Day) took control of the kit for ‘She’s Got The Jack’ – to be seen 1/7/15 under the Drum Off section! Super fun evening and lots of calories burned in our own way of prepping for Thanksgiving Day!
11/28/14: The rain has finally come to the area, and pair that with Black Friday, we didn’t expect many to be at a live music venue, but when we got to Jan’s Lounge in Orangevale we were pleasantly surprised, as was the band, Red Radio! We had a blast dancing to the fun songs on the set list; and as previously mentioned, there are two new members of the team – bassist Rick Rapalee, and percussionist Bryan Fields! Bryan even sang a few songs, which allows an additional dynamic to the band! We enjoyed the contribution the new members made to the Red Radio sound and we look forward to the band’s growth in the coming months!
11/29/14: Set In Stone was at Strikes Halftime Bar & Grill in Rocklin, and since it’s been over a year since we’ve seen them, it was a Must-Do on our List! We had not seen them in so long because they went on hiatus for a bit to write some original tunes! They surfaced again this summer, and this was the first time our schedules synced up. SIS really knows how to throw a party, with lots of fellow musicians in the crowd to support them. A new member of the band is percussionist Kevin Seymour! (You may know Kevin from Riff Raff.) I got a great Fan File video of two of LH’s favorite fans headbanging with lead vocalist, Daryl Morales! Daryl is famous for his headbanging technique, and the three of them going crazy is a video worth watching! It will air 1/14/15. It was a kick to come out and support this awesome group of great musicians! We are already looking forward to the next party!
I guess that’s all we got for November. It was a fun-filled month with some awesome bands! We are excited about December’s parties, and even more excited to see what 2015 brings us all! Till then, ROCK ON! \m/
