We are so very grateful and thankful for every one of you who has made a donation to LH; whether direct, or through PayPal on the website!  Your contribution gives us encouragement and makes it possible to keep up the fast pace checking out the local live music scene here in the Sacramento area.  Thank you so much for supporting LH as we support this awesome group of talented musicians!  You are in our thoughts every day!  Rock on!!

You are always welcome to come party with the LH team!  Just check for the “Join LH” on the Home page gig schedule next to the events we will be hanging out at!  We’d love to see you out supporting live music and become part of the group we hang out with!

If you go to a gig you saw on LH, please don’t be shy about telling the band!  I’m sure they would love to meet you as well as learn how you heard of their gig!

I want to take a moment to thank all the peeps who hang with me at these venues – soaking up the fun, bonding with the band, and touching my heart!  You all ROCK big time in my book!!!

October was fun, fun, fun!  There seems to be no shortage of great things to do in the live music world!  Here’s what happened:

10/1/16:  To start off the month and by special invitation from the awesome On The Fly team, we headed to the Rusch Home & Gardens Battle of the Bands & BBQ in Citrus Heights, which was supporting our amazing Veteran’s.  It didn’t take long for the festivities to begin with a marching band, color guard, and the welcome speech.  When it was time for the band competition, first up was Pulp Friction, supporting the 90’s genre.  On The Fly’s own bassist, Jeff Vita, was also in this band!  Next up was a bluesy/rock band called Mojo Jones’N.  And our own On The Fly was up last crankin’ out the classic rock we love best!  The barbeque was fantastic, along with the beer and wine all included in the admission cost.  I grabbed a quick photo opp with four of Citrus Heights’ finest men in blue!  The day was fast but fantastic; such a worthy cause with great folks!

10/1/16:  We wanted to catch Rogue at Halftime Bar & Grill in Strikes, Rocklin, before they took a personal break and tonight was our chance!  After some girl talk with my friend Sue at the Woodcreek Oaks Golf Course bar, we headed to our destination.  (The Mock Ups were playing a private party at Woodcreek this evening, but we weren’t allowed to crash the party!)  Rogue’s first song began a few minutes after we arrived, with that smooth sound only lead vocalist Randy Scoles can produce!  The band was spot-on all evening and got the fans involved in the fun in no time!  I got a great Drum Off video of Bob Cee that will air on November 23rd.  We are looking forward to seeing this team again after they come off break!

10/7/16:  Vince Gonsalves of Retro Metro has been after me for some time to come see them, and offered up this Halftime Bar & Grill in Strikes, Rocklin, gig as a possibility.  We figured we could slip some Retro Metro fun in before heading to our main rock of the evening.  After meeting the band and getting settled, the fun began!  We found Vince’s voice to be elegant and smooth.  Lead guitarist, Mark Shelton, was having a blast interacting with the fans on the dance floor while crankin’ out the tunes!  Fun times always pass too quickly, as did this part of the evening.  So we loaded up and moved on to our second location for the night.

10/7/16:  Skid Roses debuted at Thunder Valley Casino in Lincoln tonight, and you know how we cannot miss a debut!  Even though we walked in while they were playing, we were greeted with warmth from the band and fans we knew!  It wasn’t hard to get into the dance groove with the rockin’ songs of Skid Roses.  Before we knew it, and after getting a great Fan File of a very enthusiastic dancer and rockin’ out with some young fans, it was time for the last song.  How fast this evening went, but we left with smiles on our faces and giggles in our hearts!

10/8/16:  The Left Of Centre team was back in Rocklin to rock the Halftime Bar & Grill in Strikes’ stage.  You know we have to go support our boys whenever they roll into town!  We found them ready to rock the place – this time mixing more classic rock into their country lineup, with a sprinkle of rap here and there!  Everyone commented how versatile they are.  We couldn’t agree more!  Alicia Lowe, lead vocalist of The Ripoffs, even found a spot on stage for Hit Me With Your Best Shot!  I was able to get a great Drum Off of Jesse Easter having a little competition of his own with bassist, Greg Sadler!  Super fun ending to a super fun weekend!

10/15/16:  It was a rainy and wet weekend, but the fact The Mach 5’s show was scheduled at Jan’s Lounge in Orangevale was the deciding factor for us to brave the elements and get on out to the party!  There were quite a few who must have felt as we did because the place stayed active and busy from start to end.  The Mach 5 had a blast on stage entertaining every last one of these awesome souls that came out to support.  The set list rocked on all levels with all our favorite sing-along and dance tunes!  Judging by the fun meter and the smiles on our faces, we couldn’t have asked for a better night out!

10/21/16:  The party atmosphere was in full swing at Jan’s Lounge in Orangevale when we arrived to greet the Two20 team.  The venue was dressed up for the Halloween season giving the place a cozy and spirited feel.  We settled in and greeted the fans as they walked thru the door.  The music started and everyone quickly got into the beat.  It was obvious Two20 was having a blast entertaining the fans and feeding off the fun energy happening on the dance floor.  We stayed until the band was loaded out, visiting amongst us catching up with some good friends we haven’t seen in a while.  Great night all the way around!

10/22/16:  We headed to The Draft Sports Bar at Arena Softball in Roseville for Four Barrel’s debut gig and found a sweet surprise – original bassist, Tim Peregoy, was filling in for the night!  How cool it was to get caught up with Tim – it’s been at least a year since we last saw him!  The band didn’t miss a beat cranking out songs like ‘Signs’ and ‘Radar Love’ that Timmy always sang.  The plan was to stay for a set then head out for a night of double rock.  We were sad when the set ended as Four Barrel is always such a blast to party with!

10/22/16:  As promised to good friend Miles French of The Mock Ups, we headed up to The Auburn Event Center to check out this cool, new-to-LH venue, and party with The Mock Ups!  Upon arrival, Miles was waiting to give us the tour.  Turns out good friend Lani was right behind us as we pulled in!  We made our way in and found the venue full of color, life and fun!  Almost a carnival-like atmosphere.  We found many LH friends already comfortable at tables, enjoy the two bands that showcased before The Mock Ups.  Miles took me back to the green room, allowing me a chance to chat with the team before heading on stage.  We had a great time jumping around on the huge dance floor fronting the huge and colorful stage.  The band seemed to enjoy the evening as much as we did, producing some of the best covers we’ve heard them do!  We think you’ll be seeing LH at this venue more often!  All in all, it was a super successful evening!

10/23/16:  It’s been well over a year since we last frequented Laugh’s Unlimited in old Sacramento on a Sunday, and today happened to be a Four Barrel day.  What made this day special and a “must-see” was the addition of Kevin Crider, officially now their new bassist!  The energy was high and the action fun as we wove our way through the afternoon.  The crowd was so into the band and the music that ‘Fan Files’ videos were in abundance.  After a full day of fun and frolic, we headed home with a tired body and happy heart.  We give Kevin’s addition to the band two thumbs up!

10/29/16:  It’s ‘All Hallows’ Eve Weekend of Rock’ and lots of fun parties are planned for the LH team!  We start the fun tonight at Halftime Bar & Grill in Strikes, Rocklin, with the very popular band, Pop Fiction!  Halftime Bar itself was dressed to the hilt in cobwebs, spiders, ghosts, goblins, and caskets with eerie characters inside.  Most of the guests were in some pretty great costumes, and the band dressed the part as well sporting circus outfits!  What a great way to start the night off, but after one set it was on to Stop #2!

10/29/16:  Stop #2 of ‘All Hallows’ Eve Weekend of Rock’ landed us at the Corner Pocket Sports Bar in Citrus Heights with Riff Raff.  This stop has been a tradition for the LH team for the past 3 years.  Friends come out in force in some wild and awesome costumes, and the place kicks up a notch when the costume contest starts!  Riff Raff was blowing us out of the water with their stellar performance, including some new songs we have not heard them do!  After hugs all around, some rockin’ and some videotaping, we were off to Stop #3!

10/29/16:  We finished the night with our final stop at Referee’s Sports Bar & Grill in Citrus Heights with Four Barrel.  It was great to see our good friends and owners of Referee’s Ken and Nickole again – it’s been way too long.  More friends showed up in awesome costumes, adding to the festive party atmosphere.  Lead guitarist Phil Lovejoy stayed in his yellow dog costume the whole gig – he must have been so hot!  The winner of this costume contest is in the picture below with the skull-on-a-stick.  What a super fun Halloween evening – we look forward to it every year as it’s always a great time!

October felt like it came and went quickly, I guess that’s what happens when you’re having a fun time!  November ramps up the Holiday parties and festivities.  We are looking forward to happy and healthy holidays, and seeing you all out at live music venues to share in the fun and adventure!

Till then, ROCK ON!  \m/
