Curtis Blankenship’s Musical Memoirs

Lynns Hangouts recently got a chance to sit down with Curtis Blankenship, the percussionist for Two20, to capture his musical past, present, and future direction!  First off, Curt acquired his first drum set in a very unusual and interesting way!  He went on to take about 6 months worth of lessons, just enough to secure Curt’s love of playing the drums!  We learned that Curt put together a number of bands, but the first being at age 17 with our very own Rikki Staxx of Skid Roses!  Hear how Curt ended up in LA with an original band.  While there, he secured a day job with a music management company where he met many great artists.  After 5 years, Curt realized the business was pretty brutal and he decided to go a different direction by going back to school.  After returning to Sacramento, he didn’t think he would keep playing, but a singer/songwriter friend convinced him to play again.  His band ended up with a song in a Corona Beer commercial that was played on the radio over some 50 stations, and they were scheduled on a Hard Rock Cafe tour!  Curt is currently in 4 bands, including a Latin band, which was inducted into the Sacramento Hall of Fame!  And to finish off, learn how Two20 got its start and the direction/future of this awesome band.  Curt is well known amongst the local musicians, most likely because of his talent and the fact he is a genuinely nice person.  Give him a big shout out next time you see him!
