March 2015

Greetings, Rocker fans!  And welcome to Lynns Hangouts’ newsletter!  Thank you all for signing up so you can get a jump on exciting news!

Band News:

I received notice that Rue The Night has broken up.  We had some fun hanging out with them back in the day at places like Sammy’s Rockin’ Island Bar & Grill in Roseville.  This puts us back to 57 bands.

Great news for Super Huey!  They were tapped to be part of Season 5 of The World’s Greatest Tribute Bands on AXS TV, hosted by Katie Daryl!  They will perform at Whisky A Go Go on Sunset Blvd in West Hollywood on 5/12/15!  LH is so proud!!

Lead vocalist, Lowell Hackney, of Auto Replay has left the band and started a new band called Hit Parade Live.  Auto Replay is looking for a replacement singer.

Meeting Minutes:

I am excited to report our March website stats continue to climb at a healthy pace!  As of the end of March we had a cumulative total of over 33,600 unique visitors to the website, over 273,300 page views, and a cumulative total of almost 64,000 video views on You Tube!  Keep visiting LH often for more fun, and be part of these awesome stats!

If you want to come party with us, check for the “Join LH” on the Home page gig schedule next to the events we will be hanging out at!  We’d love to see you out supporting live music and will grab a dance with you!

If you go to a gig you saw on LH, please don’t be shy about telling the band!  I’m sure they would love to meet you as well as learn how you heard of their gig!

We are so grateful and thankful for every one of you who has made a donation to LH!  Your contribution gives us encouragement and makes it possible to keep up the fast pace checking out the local live music scene here in the Sacramento area.  Thank you for supporting LH as we support this awesome group of talented folks!

Let’s check out some of the live music fun in the area during March:

3/6/15:  Seems like forever since we hit up Jan’s Lounge in Orangevale, and since all the LH bands were gigging out of town tonight we decided to check out the Sock Monkey band, since they have been after me to party with them!  Jan’s was decorated in March green; and our fav bartender, Chad Christiansen, was wearing the best St. Patty’s Day hat EVER!  The band knocked it out of the park – we were impressed!  The energy the fans and band fed each other grew as the night went on.  There were so many fun friends and fans in attendance, including Jerry Pompei of Two20 and Kevin Drummer of Riff Raff!  Kevin even sat behind the kit for an AC/DC song!  It was one of the funnest nights we have had at Jan’s in a while!

3/7/15:  Skid Roses was back in Rocklin at Halftime Bar & Grill in Strikes!  That combo doesn’t come around often, so we knew that’s where the party was going to be!  It was great to see the Skids again and chat with the team a bit before and after the gig.  Their tunes are always our favorite hair band songs!  A very energetic couple gave a stellar performance on the dance floor to Dr. Feelgood, which aired on 5/6/15!  Crash Von Bonham was on top of his game so a Drum Off was in order!  The night went quickly and we are already looking forward to seeing them again soon!  The Skids ROCK!!

3/20/15:  We were off to the Opera House Saloon in Roseville to party with Apple Z.  They always draw a crowd, and their high energy always gets us moving-and-a-shaking!  Lots of LH friends and live music fans were there, and we had a blast dancing to their medley arrangements that only Apple Z do!  We even heard some Stairway To Heaven!  Who does that!!  It was a stellar, fun evening and a great way to start the weekend!

3/21/15:  Saturday was a special day and we anticipated it all week!  It was Swabbies-On-The-River Day with Cats Barking and Riff Raff!  First time back for us this season, and it couldn’t have been a more beautiful day!  So many friends and fans showed up for the fun!  Cats Barking has a new banner, very cool!  Riff Raff was energetic and rockin’ as usual – they even did a song off the new Rock Or Bust album!  The food smelled delicious and the drinks were cold!  A highlight was the older gentleman who came out of nowhere, danced a song with all the fans on the floor, then disappeared!  Luckily, there were cameras snapping everywhere!

And if that wasn’t enough, we headed to Referee’s Sports Bar & Grill in Citrus Heights afterwards for Four Barrel!  We arrived a tad bit late, thanks to some construction on I-80, but it seemed the fun followed us in – it didn’t take long for the place and the dance floor to fill up!  A live music fan and friend was having her birthday party this evening – Happy Birthday Sara!! – and we brought a card for everyone to sign!  She was thrilled to get a card with so much love in it!  A sweet couple gave us all a treat with their special choreographed dance moves – of course a video was taken and can be seen under the Fan Files section!  It was a great 12-hour day, but emphasis was on GREAT!

3/27/15:  We packed up the car and headed to Louie’s Cocktail Lounge in Rancho Cordova to check out the new team members of Endangered Souls!  Louie’s is a cozy, fun bar with a couple of pool tables and great acoustics surrounding the stage and dance floor, not to mention the killer drinks they serve!  Endangered Souls had been out of the loop for a year – regrouping and dialing in the band.  I chatted with lead vocalist, Dennis Setzer, on break and got the scoop on past, present and future directions for the band.  His interview can be seen on LH!  Guest drummer Rich Blackwell had a chance to sit behind the Kit for Living After Midnight!  This was Rich’s second time performing in front of an audience!  We thought he did an excellent job – check it out for yourself on LH!  We had a great time, and I even brought my original dancing peeps, Patty and Mary!

3/28/15:  It’s Unlicensed Therapy time again!  This time at Referee’s Sports Bar & Grill in Citrus Heights!  What a party this evening turned out to be!  So many friends and fans showed up to party and show support!  The entire Jet Screamer band was there, as well as Jerry Pompei of Two 20!  UT was dishing out the fun with their great songs and party attitude!  I cornered keyboardist, Fred Gardner, for a great one-question interview, which turned out to be an informative chat about apps bands can make for smart phones!  And to top the interview off, the best video bomb EVER happened early on – it will have you in stitches!  One thing you’ll take away from a night with our UT band, you’ll always remember how fun your therapy was!

March was a super fun month – fun bands, fun venues!  April has some great times planned, so stay tuned to LH to be part of the fun!!

Till then, ROCK ON!  \m/
