Greetings, Rocker fans! And welcome to Lynns Hangouts’ newsletter! Thank you all for signing up so you can get a jump on exciting news!
Red Radio went through a couple of team member changes. Their percussionist and bass player have moved on, and Bryan Fields (Drums) and Rick Rapalee (bass) have joined the band!
Radio Heavy had some team member changes, as well. Percussionist Matt Lipford joined Jet Screamer, and guitarist John Goodwin left the band to pursue other interests. No word yet who will replace them.
We added a new sponsor – Use Dave’s Voice! Dave is a huge live music fan and can be seen supporting bands around town, but mostly at Jan’s Lounge in Orangevale! Give Dave a shout out for his support and his cool voice business!
Sammy’s Island Bar & Grill reopened in Downtown Roseville on September 16th. So far we have supported A-Train at Sammy’s and look forward to seeing more LH bands grace their stage!
New sponsor coming soon to LH – Referee’s Sports Bar & Grill in Citrus Heights! Just a few more details to work out, then you will see their sponsorship ad up on LH! Please come check out this very fun and personable sports venue! And while you’re there checking out the multitude of TV’s airing various sporting events, say hi to the owners – Ken and Nickole!

Thank you for supporting LH as we support this awesome group of talented folks!
Let’s take a trip back in October to see how live music rocked us:
10/3/14: Last time Pop Fiction was at Strikes Halftime Bar & Grill in Rocklin the place was packed, so we decided to go early and leave early, allowing a double rock night! The strategy was solid, and we had a great time with Pop Fiction, be it ever so short! The band was tight, as usual, in their performance with lots of fun energy up on stage! Their Congo’s add a special treat to most of their songs, and the fans bombarded the dance floor from the very beginning!
After Pop Fiction’s first set, we headed over to The Opera House Saloon in Roseville to party with Tragically White! It had been way too long since we’ve seen this awesome band, making tonight such a treat all the way around! We found Melissa Nunley on stage with the band for the evening (Melissa is in Take Out, Nunchuck Taylor and Madhouse, to name a few). Melissa has an awesome voice and we gave her addition to the band for the night a thumbs up! There was a ‘Tone Monkey’ spotting in the audience – vocalist Tommy Palmer, and percussionist Steve Cain! Steve was asked to come up on stage for a song to lead the beat, which you can see under the Drum Off section! I filmed a couple of very cool Fan File videos where the audience participated in the ‘YMCA’ song, and a very cool couple doing a special dance! Tonight was a fun night from start to finish, and will be added to the ‘Successful’ list!
10/4/14: This fine Saturday night found us at the corner of music and fun! Actually, at the Corner Pocket in Citrus Heights with A-Train – same thing, right? I met some friends in the parking lot and as soon as we got in the door the band was all over us! They were so excited to see us, and lead vocalist Chandra Laccoarce had a surprise for me – she wanted to interview me! I was flattered but didn’t think much more about it until she showed me the questions she put thought into. How could I turn that down! So on break we went outside and had a great time doing the interview! Chandra brought the best questions to the table, and a video bomb by Drew, one of the security guards, added an additional body to the actual interview! I’ll have to admit it was pretty awesome being able to tell the LH story! But back to inside on the stage and floor – we had some special LH friends from Las Vegas join us in the festivities – always fun to see Jeff and Ally! A-Train provided a stellar performance, as they always do! Thanks, A-Train, for a memorable evening of fun!
10/10/14: The Opera House Saloon in Roseville always makes an excellent party happen when Superlicious is in the house, and tonight was no exception! The place was packed, and many LH friends were spotted enjoying the night! We made a new friend (hi Don) whom we found out is a huge live-music fan, so we expect to see him and his lovely wife, Karen, out more often! Superlicious did an excellent job of entertaining all the fans, as evidence in the Recent Hangouts video, Let’s Go Crazy, where the dance floor was packed! What a successful and fun evening it was!
10/11/14: Category 4 was having a party at Referee’s Sports Bar & Grill in Citrus Heights this beautiful evening, so we knew we were in for some fun! But what we didn’t know was how much fun! This band always plays some great 80’s hits that most other cover bands don’t, such as Vehicle, Leave Your Hat On, Come Together, and Get Down Tonight. The addition of an excellent keyboardist, Larry Audino, allows them to expand their set lists to include many awesome songs. I finally got some Drum Off videos of Mark Coudriet – that was a must do! Mark nailed ‘Running On Empty’, which will air in December. I also got a very special interview with the owner of Referee’s, Ken Fiola! I hope you got a chance to watch this interview so you can hear what Ken’s awesome future plans are for the bar! We saw many LH friends tonight, and we had invited our new friends, Don and Karen, to join us, which they did! The party got going and we had so many fans of dance on the floor that by the last song folks were actually yelling “ENCORE,” and the band was thanking the dancers and telling us WE were awesome! News flash Category 4, that’s what we think of YOU!!!
10/17/14: It was back to Jan’s Lounge in Orangevale – this time with Jet Screamer, our second time with the newest addition to LH! The band had a lot of fan support for this gig, which made it even more fun to dance and party with new friends! The set list is impressive and Jet Screamer takes on some songs seldom heard like ‘Rock And Roll Hoochie Koo’ and ‘Helter Skelter’! As the evening wore on, the crowd became more interested in showing off their moves and everyone had a ball singing along and dancing to this awesome band! I was lucky to grab an interview with lead vocalist Angelo Dapello during the first break. Please check it out to learn all about Angelo and what makes him tick musically! Another fun evening full of laughs, dance and friends!
10/18/14: Tonight was “back to Referee’s Sports Bar & Grill in Citrus Heights night” to see what’s new with A-Train! It seems they always throw in songs we haven’t heard them play every time we see them. And sure enough, they brought out the Bag-O-Songs to make up a stellar evening! A 22-year old woman was having a birthday party, complete with Mom, Dad and family! We had so many folks out on the floor – we even saw owner Ken Fiola shakin’ it out for a few songs! All the fans were happy and smiling and dancing, so you know we’re going to chalk this one up to the “pro’s” side of the list!
10/24/14: Some close peeps and myself were off to Strikes Halftime Bar & Grill in Rockin to see Apple Z, dressed in our best…Halloween costumes! Yes, it’s that time of year! Despite the fact we were the only ones in costume, we had a rockin’ great time! Apple Z was perfection with their groovin’ songs and fun interaction with the fans! I had a great opportunity to chat with lead vocalist Scott Rodell afterwards. Scott is a fascinating person and he agreed to do an interview with me next time I see them! I am looking forward to it!
10/26/14: A special Sunday was in store for us today! Double rock, yes – heading to Kokomo Park with Unlicensed Therapy first! We dressed in our Halloween costumes again, and enjoyed the crowd of kids and adults alike all dressed up and having fun! This was Natomas’ annual Creekside Community Fair and Unlicensed Therapy lands this gig every year, now we see why. They did a great job entertaining everyone! The cutest little girl was rockin’ out to Boys Of Summer, and lead vocalist Teri Alison invited her up on stage. I grabbed the camera and got a super cute Fan File! She knew the song well enough to know when to react to it! I asked her Grandfather afterwards for permission to post her video (something I do for anyone under age) and he said she is a child actor and he had to get permission from the Guild first, which he did! No wonder she seemed right at home on a stage! What a fun afternoon!
Next stop – Laugh’s Unlimited in old Sacramento with Four Barrel for our usual 4th Sunday of the month for our usual fun time! Four Barrel was crankin’ out the groovy tunes for fans young and older alike! I got a chance to corner lead guitarist Phillip Lovejoy and ask him that one question on camera – does he have an interesting gig story! And Phil had a great one! Don’t miss it when it airs on 12/24/14. My good friend Linda told me she could do the Electric Slide to any song, and proceeded to action her words to Brown Sugar! Yes, it’s now a Fan File for your viewing enjoyment! Lots of great energy at Laugh’s today – well worth the trip if you want some live music fun on a Sunday!
10/31/14: Oh boy, it’s that time again – Halloween! And on a Friday night, no less! We were off to the Corner Pocket in Citrus Heights to party with AC/D’ceased, aka Riff Raff! We got there early but the place was actively busy. Lead guitarist Dave Chapman and his sweet wife Vanessa saved us a table next to theirs, how cool is that! We had a few peeps coming, so the table came in handy! By the time the band started playing the place was hopping. The energy was high and the band responded accordingly by hitting every song with power! We were amazed at the elaborate costumes this year! Fans really put some great thought into the event! I ran into Madame Blue with her Crystal Ball and simply had to grab an interview with her! She had quite a story to tell me – direct from the ‘Spirits’! Don’t miss it! Super fun evening with a lot of super cool fans and a super great band!
October seemed to pass in a breath – so quick. November starts the happy-holiday months of rock! Lots of parties to attend! Please continue to make plans to free up some time and join us in supporting our local musicians!
Till then, ROCK ON! \m/
