Greetings, Rocker fans! And welcome to Lynns Hangouts’ newsletter! Thank you all for signing up so you can get a jump on exciting news!
Our IT department is working diligently on that new, modern look for the LH website platform! It’s taking a bit longer than anticipated, but I think you’ll enjoy all that LH will have to offer! You’ll still see all the great videos of your favorite rock bands, and the calendar will continue to Rock!
Unlicensed Therapy is coming back with a new singer, Dana Caylor! We look forward to meeting Dana and welcome her to the team! More to follow on their first gig date, as we hear!
Category 4 is breaking up. They have one gig left at Jan’s Lounge in Orangevale on 12/11/15. Please make plans to join us as we send them off with love and appreciation! They had a 15 year run – not bad for a local band! This will bring our total bands down to 56.
September website stats rocked! As of the end of September, we had a cumulative total of over 42,300 unique visitors to the website; we broke the 300K mark with over 300,200 page views; and a cumulative total of over 76,800 video views on You Tube! New visitor sessions this month moved up to 51%! Keep visiting LH often for more fun, and be part of these awesome stats!
You are always welcome to come party with the LH team! Just look for the “Join LH” on the Home page gig schedule next to the events we will be hanging out at! We’d love to see you out supporting live music!
If you go to a gig you saw on LH, please don’t be shy about telling the band! I’m sure they would love to chat with you as well as learn how you heard of their gig!
We are so grateful and thankful for every one of you who has made a donation to LH! Your contribution gives us encouragement and makes it possible to keep up the fast pace checking out the local live music scene here in the Sacramento area. Thank you so much for supporting LH as we support this awesome group of talented folks!
September was a fun rock month, transitioning from summer to fall! Here’s what happened:
9/4/15: The Opera House Saloon was hosting Four Barrel, their first time playing at the saloon! Who could pass that opportunity up! If possible, we always try to support our bands when they play their initial gig at a venue! And Four Barrel knocked it out of the park! So many new and loyal Four Barrel fans showed up to be part of the action! Lead guitarist Phillip Lovejoy did his usual La Grange audience participation stroll, but this time the action lasted over 15 minutes! He even caught the finger of the owner’s wife, Rebecca, to do a little gee-tar playing! We stayed til the end – well past 1 AM, but oh what fun!!
9/5/15: Wow, how time flies! It’s been forever since we’ve partied at The Corner Pocket Sports Bar in Citrus Heights. Figured it was time when we saw Tragically White was playing there! It had been way too long since we last saw them, as well! The fights were on all the TV’s when we arrived so we had time to chat up the band, make some new friends, get our table and drinks squared away. Then on to the music! Bassist Jason Friend was in prime form and diggin’ the evening, as evidence in the Recent Hangouts video I posted of ‘Hella Good’ where Jason came down on the dance floor to slap the bass! Excellent job, Jason! I also got a great Drum Off of guest percussionist Darren Mintor! Darren is currently in The Swank Masters, but was in the huge metal band, Heathen, as well as the German industrial band – Die Krupps! Truly a celebrity amongst us! But the best video of the evening was the interview I captured with vocalist Melissa Nunley! She is one amazing person! That aired on 10/7/15. I was also able to give the team their LH Best Band award, after which they could not wipe the smiles away! Super fun evening, A+ all the way around! Thanks, Team TW!
9/7/15: It’s holiday time again! This time Labor Day, and that always means we party at Swabbies On The River with Four Barrel! We arrived early, but parking and seating were already pretty much taken! Good friend James Facchini was kind enough to save us a table up front, making the day worry free! Four Barrel was in prime form; we didn’t see anyone not enjoying themselves, on or off the dance floor! A sweet couple was celebrating their 68th wedding anniversary this fine day! Four Barrel didn’t miss a beat bringing this to everyone’s attention, as well as singing Happy Anniversary to them! The weather was perfectly warm, the company excellent, and the music stellar! What a wonderful way to finish out the summer!
9/11/15: Skid Roses landed at Halftime Bar & Grill in Strikes, Rocklin, this evening and judging by Facebook, the party was here! There were a lot of Skid Roses and live music fans, and some close peeps showed as well. The night was full of energy and everyone was diggin’ the fun! Rumor had it Crash Von Bonham’s semi-twin, Crack Von Bonham, was behind the kit tonight. Crack looked more like a full twin to me, but I’ll let it go. See for yourself when his Drum Off posts! There were more belly dancing scarves being passed around to all the ladies who wanted to shake it to the 80’s rock tunes! Tonight started with success and fun!
For our double rock pleasure and with only 3 songs left for Skid Roses to do, we jetted off to the Opera House to finish up the party with Superlicious! Lots of fun peeps were there when we arrived, regardless of the fact it was after midnight! Even though the band was playing, they came over for a quick hug and kiss on the cheek when we walked up to the stage! Highlight of our time there – a conga line to ‘All Night Long’ that included three of the five Superlicious team members, playing and singing as they wound their way through the tables! Of course, it’s all on tape for your viewing enjoyment on 11/25/15! Afterwards, we chatted with the band and Rebecca Ryan, the owner’s wife, then headed off to breakfast! Yes, we pulled a Donald Preston! Honestly, none of us wanted the night to end, so breakfast seemed a great way to keep the party going! I’m going to have to start another memory book, this one’s almost full!
9/12/15: Country night! And oh what a night! Left Of Centre graced the Valencia Club’s stage in Penryn this wonderful evening to the delight of most every country music lover in the County! Turns out, Valencia Club was having their grand re-opening, and also offered up a country artist tribute night! Left Of Centre was there to help out, as well as 27 Outlaws, who played on the “truck stage” outdoors! The club also had a DJ spinning some awesome country tunes in another section. One could never run out of fun things to do! In fact, it was so crowded of fun lovin’ folks, we decided to head to Opera House for the last hour of the evening! We had no idea who was there, but thought it would be fun to go!
Turns out The Cripple Creek Band was playing at Opera House! A few good friends of ours have previously told us how good this band is, so it was a treat to get to see them! We had a great time supporting this cool band, but we weren’t sure what they and the country fans thought of us rockers! When they did play some rock tunes, we pretty much came to life and took over the dance floor! We did come to the conclusion that the dance floor is pretty much a different world when it comes to country, though. Lots of line dancing and group movement that had us on our toes trying to get out of the way! It was a fun night of country, growth and learning! Too cool for school!
9/18/15: Jan’s Lounge in Orangevale paired up with RedRadio to have a fun party this mid-month evening, so we gathered up the troops and took off to join in the fun! It had been a long time since we partied at Jan’s Lounge and had been missing Chad and Jeremy, who run the bar, as well as all the usual peeps that hangout there! It was so great to see them all again, and Chad gave a big welcome hug when we arrived! RedRadio did an awesome job of making sure everyone had a great time with their rockin’ tunes, fun humor and smiling selves! We stayed past the end to chat, getting in the car at 1:45 AM! You know that’s a fun night when the clock strikes such a tender hour yet time seemed to go so quick!
9/19/15: As it turns out, the whole weekend is about Jan’s Lounge in Orangevale! On tonight’s agenda is A-Train for some special fun! It’s been way too long since we’ve visited with this amazing band, and it was great to get caught up with the team and their significant others! They did a lot of jamming type songs this evening, which delighted the fans who had a chance to show off their cool moves on the dance floor! We could only stay for a bit because we had a special invitation to party at Referee’s Sports Bar & Grill in Citrus Heights with the owner Ken Fiola, who was enjoying a birthday party thrown special just for him! The Funk Rockers were the entertainment for the evening, complete with wigs and 80’s rocker costumes! Felt like Halloween came a bit early this year!
9/25/15: It isn’t often I get to play hooky and jet off to a big time concert, but I had waited for this evening since February! That’s right, the ACDC concert in San Francisco at AT&T Park! I headed to the city with good friends Al, Linda and Shelley. What a fabulous time we had, right from the pre-party, the cab ride to the park, the actual concert, the walk back to the hotel, the breakfast the next day and the drive home! The band put on an amazing show with a great mix of songs from all their albums, including their latest, Rock Or Bust! Great times with wonderful friends and now wonderful memories!
9/26/15: Talk about a whirlwind tour and weekend! After a quick overnight nap, we headed home only to change and head back to Swabbies On The River! After all, we couldn’t miss Jet Screamer, Riff Raff, Whoville and Warp 11! We spent the whole day supporting and partying with these fabulous bands. Jet Screamer rocked the small stage with three sets, while Whoville and Warp 11 filled in between on the larger stage. Whoville was fun as always – who doesn’t like The Who songs? But Warp 11 was something to talk about! They do a parity on Star Trek. I cannot even tell you how funny the words are to their original songs! We had a blast dancing to these high-powered songs and doing the LLAP hand sign! Then Riff Raff took the stage for the evening show – I know what you’re thinking, so much ACDC in one weekend! Yes, it’s true – we were in heaven! We probably had more fun at Riff Raff because we could interact with the band and actually have some dancing space! What a day, what a weekend!
September was a busy and exhausting month of rock! But we wouldn’t change a thing! Join us in October for the start of the super fun holiday season! Come rock with us, you won’t be sorry!
Till then, ROCK ON! \m/
